The DC2SEM2L is a control unit for traffic lights, it can manage both 24V and 230Vac traffic lights as they are driven by clean relay contacts.
It has been designed for the management of 2 situations.
– 2 TRAFFIC LIGHTS WITH 2 LIGHTS in A SINGLE ALTERNATE SENSE , certainly the most classic and used in a narrow passage where only one car passes (garages, parking lots, residences, etc.).
– 4 TRAFFIC LIGHTS COMBINED 2 TO TWO OPPOSED to manage A SIMPLE CROSSING , on one exit you control a road in both directions and on the other exit the road that intersects on both directions .
The traffic light control unit can operate with two operating logics, depending on the installation requirement:
A Operation without detection devices (TIMED) :
The alternation times of the phases in which the traffic lights are lit red or green are defined by the installer through the trimmers on board the control unit.
The times of the phases are fixed, cyclical times, regardless of the volume of inbound or outbound traffic.
The order of entry and exit of the vehicles is defined autonomously by the control unit in a cyclical way, by turning on the traffic lights as follows:
PHASE 1 : Traffic light 1 red light / Traffic light 2 red light;
PHASE 1: Traffic light 1 red / Traffic light 2 red;
PHASE 2: Traffic light 1 green light / Traffic light 2 red light;
PHASE 3: Traffic light 1 red / Traffic light 2 red;
PHASE 4: Traffic light 1 red light / Traffic light 2 green light;
PHASE 5: The cycle restarts from phase 1.
The phases in which the traffic lights are both lit red allow vehicles to pass safely throughout the use of the bottleneck, tunnel or alley.
B Operation with detection devices :
The alternation times of the phases in which the traffic lights are lit red or green are defined by the installer through the trimmers on board the control unit.
The difference is that it is the detection of vehicles on the corresponding entrances that activates the switch-ons of the traffic lights.
In fact, the control unit is equipped with two inputs, respectively to be able to activate traffic light 1 or traffic light 2.
This logic allows for better management of the volume of inbound and outbound traffic.
The order of entry and exit of the vehicles is therefore defined by the control unit, but it will be the detection devices that will allow the start of the phases as follows:
PHASE 1 : Traffic light 1 red light / Traffic light 2 red light;
PHASE 2 : The first detector to detect a vehicle will allow the corresponding traffic light to turn green, for example: Detector 1 detects à Traffic light 1 green light / Traffic light 2 red light;
PHASE 3 : At this point the control unit can manage 3 different conditions that may occur:
PHASE 3A : Once the transit of the vehicle is concluded and in the absence of other detections in both directions, the 2 traffic lights will turn on red, restarting the cycle from PHASE 1;
PHASE 3B : In the event that further vehicles should pass on the same side where the traffic light is already lit green and THERE IS NO VEHICLE WAITING on the opposite side, the traffic light will continue to be green as long as which will detect vehicles on the same side.
Once the vehicle has passed and in the absence of other detections in both directions, the 2 traffic lights will turn on red, restarting the cycle from PHASE 1;
PHASE 3C : In the event that further vehicles should pass on the same side in which the traffic light is already lit green and in the meantime A WAITING VEHICLE has arrived on the opposite side, the traffic light currently lit with light green will remain lit for a maximum time.
This time is defined by one of the trimmers on board the control unit so as to allow the alternate entry of vehicles.
